Our Director

Trevor was born in Ipswich, Suffolk.

He studied at The College of St. Mark and St. John, London and at The Royal Academy of Music.

After two years with The BBC Singers, he continued studying in Munich, at the Hochschule fur Music, having been awarded a scholarship. He specialised in the singing of German Lieder and gave a number of concerts and broadcasts in Germany.

Trevor continued his singing career when he returned to England, becoming recognised as a recital and oratorio singer and giving concerts around the country, as well as radio broadcasts.

He has travelled widely, both as a soloist and with professional groups. He has performed at the Festivals of Dartington, Aldeburgh and The City of London. Travels abroad have included concerts at the Drotningholm Theatre near Stockholm (with the English Opera Group, conducted by Benjamin Britten), and concert tours in Holland, Germany, France, Spain and the USA.

Trevor is also an accomplished pianist and a recognised accompanist. He has conducted a number of choirs and formed his own group, The St. Michael’s Chorale (formerly The St. Michael’s Singers), about twenty-five years ago.

As a member of Westminster Cathedral Choir, he became an authority on the singing of Gregorian Chant and on Renaissance polyphony. Trevor is also a composer, writing music for the Cathedral choir, including a Mass for men’s voices.

He is a well-known teacher and coach.

Trevor was decorated in 1986 for his services to church music.
